Verdant is a lifestyle publication focusing on all things natural and plant-based. I designed print spreads for a short article, feature article, and department article based on a five-column grid in InDesign. I then adapted the grid and layout for a scrolling digital version to be read on a tablet and brought them in to Adobe XD to create a working preview.

I have always had an interest in photography, and this publication provided me with the perfect opportunity for a crossover of my photo and design skills. I set up several photoshoots and personally took all of the photos used in the design. This also presented a fun challenge for creative direction; I had to decide on an aesthetic for the images to create a cohesive feel across the publication. I settled on bright, vivid colors to compliment the clean, modern feel of the layout.

This piece was chosen to be part of the juried BFA Exhibition at Colorado State University. It was displayed in the Hatton Gallery of the Visual Arts Building from May–August, 2018.
